Taking a break from mugging for physics test tomorrow. Actually, it can't be considered to be mugging because i spent 3 hours and have not finish one topic. Anyway, I just thought of blogging about university admission.
Today, Mr Ng spent 1 whole period to talk about NUS. He told us about the NUS open house and I guess no one from my class is going to attend. He went on to talk about the courses and the hostel. Firstly about the courses, he said that what you learn/take in university may not be what you will be doing in the future. You may be taking chemical engineering but you can end up being in computer or network company. This is very true and I feel that the degree will only show that you graduated and it will only help you to get your first job. After which, it doesn't really matter anymore. Then, when we talked about the courses to choose, he went on to tell us that
"you won't know exactly what you want, but you know what you don't want." This is so true! I don't really know what course I want to take because I don't even know whether I am able to enter a university. However, I know what i don't want. I will say no to anything related to computer. Simply because I knew about IT and computer stuffs too well that I am so sick of it. I don't mean that I am a computer genius or what, I mean that I know how IT stuffs works and it can be so boring and useless. IT stuffs are so dead and everyone can learn, nothing special about it. (Unless you know lots of programming and ideas to create wonderful programs)
IT stuffs will be getting very common and everyone else will know what you know sooner or later. Moreover, technology advances so fast that I am unable to catch up. For eg. I just finish understanding about WiFi-g and they came out WiFi-N. I just finish learning how LCD works and they come out OLED screens. Vista just launched and they working on Vienna/fiji. I will never be able to catch up at this rate!! Hence, I give up on these IT stuffs.
I found out that I dislike to sit in front of the computer and talking to someone, but actually no one. It is so boring and no life as it is. I still agree that computer can be a form of entertainment and assist us in our daily life, but it may also be a waste of time. Okay, to cut short, I'm slowly changing the way I think of computers.
Next, I won't take business courses. I listen to my father and accept that business skills can be obtained from experiences in the workforce. Furthermore, I do not have a business for me to manage after i graduate. I won't have the money to start a business too. Business jobs? There are so many people taking business courses in poly too, University graduates may not stand a bigger chance to get the job. I also don't like to read whole chunk of English words and answering those profound economic concepts.
Also, I won't take Chemistry related courses too. I already regretted taking chemistry as one of my H2 subject in JC, I won't repeat the same mistake again. I just have no interest in chemistry.
So, I may end up anywhere else. Actually I'm quite interested in tourism and design. However, my father rejected me going to tourism, nor will he want me to go design. I have no creativity and going into design won't help me to score well. My sis took design. Aerospace will be the next choice. So, I may meet biondi or shakir in university.. haha..
Yup, Mr Ng go on to talk about the grades. There are many ways of assessing, either tutorial-based or project-based or exam-based. And getting a 1st class honors, you need to score all A or the max, few Bs. To get at least a 2nd class, you need to get at least all B. It is dam difficult and yah, it is never easy -.-"
After that, he went on to talk about living in hostel. Yeah~ I always wanted to stay in the hostel to experience living alone. I see my cousins living in there like so fun, and living in the university's hostel was one of my aim when I was young. Yup, then I learnt about the life in the hostel. They have competitions between different blocks and many activities. So fun!! I want to live in the hostels!!! But it will also mean that I will leave my parents alone at home -.-""
That's all for now, finished my noodles and continue to mug till 11.30pm then go sleep. I'm depriving myself of sleep these few days. Wasn't sleeping well also, made myself feel so shag the whole day.
Good luck all!! Cya!!
cheers
