Police car chase along Yishun Ring Road





STOMPer Tim heard police sirens and a car, which he believes to be speeding away from the police cars close to 3am on June 23 along Yishun Ring Road.

In his email to STOMP, the STOMPer recounted:

“I would like to post what I witnessed in front of my house at 2.55AM on 23 June 2008.

“It was late at night when everybody was sleeping, when suddenly I heard many police sirens and a car that was believed to be speeding away from the police cars.

“There were initially two police cars with sirens wailing and the lights flashing while chasing the black sports car.

“Two seconds later, I heard a long and loud sound of screeching tires followed by a loud crash.

“Then I heard a man which I believe to be the police man, shouted while running in mandarin, " Don't run! don't run! Crouch down!" but I realised that the suspect ran and jumped into the canal with police in pursuit.

“As my house is directly beside the park connector in Yishun ring road and beside the huge monsoon drain, there are a lot of trees blocking my view of the canal.

“But I could see many rays of light shone from torches. I think the police were searching the monsoon drain for the suspect.

“Then two more police cars arrived and an ambulance and a fire engine arrived too. The firemen deployed a portable ladder into the canal to search for the guy.

“After a long while, the suspect was nabbed by the police. The suspect seemed to have injured his left ankle during his pursuit.

“I saw that he looks like a man in his 30s and he was wearing a kaki t-shirt and beige three quarters Bermudas.

“I am now trying to contact the police to find out more about this police chase.”

STOMP contacted the Police and a spokesman said:

"On 23 June at 250 am, police spotted a stationary car along Yishun ring Road.

On seeing police, the driver of the car fled.

"Officers gave chase and eventually apprended a Chinese man in his late 20s.

"He was later to found in procession of controlled drugs and scheduled weapons. Investigations are on-going."

This was my team's car. hahaha! They just delivered some food for my point and then met with this stupid guy. All the food they bought all spoil after that incident. But well, it was really some "action". Seldom see such action eh.
