Ahhhh!! I'm in a dilemma! I'm confused! I'm lack of time! Application for University is closing soon. Rightfully, I only left with 1 day to decide. Business or Electrical & Electronics Engineering?
Question is not that simple.
Which is better?
-In terms of job prospects
-In terms of pay
-In terms of working environment
-In terms of employability
These are just few of the many questions I have been asking myself over and over again. Each has its pros and cons afterall.
Business, it seems to be easier to get a job now. Moreover, it seems to have a higher chance of getting higher post with higher pay. However, there are huge amount of students taking business, will it cause an overload of business graduates in the years to come? If it is so, the competition would be though and how am I going to compete? Furthermore, it seems that economic is going to experience a slow down soon, business sector will be a direct hit and business graduates would have trouble finding jobs. And lastly, engineers can also take on manager positions and receive a higher pay.
Engineering(EEE), I will confirm acquire the skills and I can venture into different types of jobs. However, people say that it is quite difficult to get a job with an EEE degree. Starting pay is okay but difficult to work onto higher levels. Somemore, I would need to compete with the large amount of foreign talents holding engineering certs who ask for lower pay. However, when the economic go down, engineers may not be so hardly hit. And as there are lesser people going to be engineers, there may be a higher demand for engineers and thus regaining it's popularity.
I won't be able to predict how the economic will be like 6 years later, but at least try to predict. I'm afraid that there would be an overload of business grads and as lesser engineers around, more engineers are wanted, thus a higher standing for engineers.
That's why I don't know which one i should put as my first choice. Unless business don't accept me then no choice la. But just take it as both accept, which one should i choose? I have interest for both course. Taking business will deprive me of learning electronics stuffs that I'm interested in and also a skill. While taking EEE will deprive me of the chance to apply for jobs that require a business degree. But like what my father say, you do not have to really study for general business. Once you got your working experience, you will learn it on the way. So what for a degree in business that is so general? The degree only act as a stepping stone to get a job.
arghh!!
Now my father suggest me to get a double degree in business and accounting to get an edge over the others. Most prob I won't get in with my grades. But if i get in, I'm afraid that I won't be able to cope with it.
How!!!
